What’s your favourite memory from the summer of ’09?

The long days, the sun showers, being outside on the steps with my friends … oh, hang on, that was the summer of ’79.

To think that when I took this, I thought this sort of weather would hold all week.

I know a few of you in the northern hemisphere, where it is winter, are not happy with your stormy weather. But spare a thought for those of us who are meant to have summer right now. Summer, it seems, is off, and midsummer tomorrow is forecast to be lousy. The climate is wetter than a Rod Blagojevich excuse. And 10°C on Monday is plain chilly.

I never thought I was a flower person but I am loving these in the garden.

Summer, for the long days. I feel more productive during longer days. And Sweden gets the best summers of all!

Some shots of Wellington, New Zealand, from the last few weeks. We begin with a city view from Mt Victoria, the corner of Courtenay Place and Kent Terrace, a beautiful full moon rising as viewed from Greta Pt, and two of a beautiful monarch butterfly in my garden (I see these daily).
