This was one of my favorite coming of age movies. Forrester was not motivated by racism, he had issues with success andcurtural expectations. Mentoring Wallace gave him another chance at life.
Forrester wasn’t racist, but I think Prof Crawford had some issues.
Crawford was arogant & filled with hubris and was angry becuse he didn't receive the literary success that he believed that he deserved. His envy of Forrester was clear which make the climax of the movie.
