Though I don't really care what they think about me! ;-)
I always wondered where Dr Phil got his horse sense. I used to care when I was in my 20s. Now I’m too busy to!

I'm more concerned about myown thoughts.
I bet!

Well, he is wise to remember the words, but I don't believe it's his original thought. That quote has been around quite a while, and is widely attributed to an Olin Miller.

You probably wouldn't worry about what people think of you if you could know how seldome they do."

I say that to my depressed/paranoid schizophrenic clients all the time....
Thank you, M—I stand corrected. I kind of figured it was older than the McGraws, but didn’t really know who the source might have been. Linda-Joy: it’s darned good advice, whomever said it!
It's quite useful when one particular client starts saying: "That lady gave me a funny look." To be honest the lady probably did - as my client is a bit of a scruff. But I just say: "Ah she's probably had a tough morning - fight with her husband or lost her job or something. Most likely not thinking about you!"
