Websites cannot do arithmetic
See if you can work this out. I had 204 photos on Flickr, and the site gave me the 200-limit warning from October 2007. I hadn’t used it since. Today, I decided to delete four photographs to bring it under 200, but no matter how many I deleted, the warning remained. The folders I have there state:
No matter what I do, these are the totals.I kept on deleting and eventually Flickr admitted I got under 200. I deleted far more than four to get there: But if I go to the folders’ totals, guess what? They still report 170 and 34.
Hence, on Flickr, 204 – 10 (maybe several fewer) = 199 and 170 + 34 = 199. But like the one on Image.net I posted here a couple of weeks ago: On Image.net, 42 > 500.
Somehow, knowledge of basic arithmetic is not important in computer programming. Or this is all that new maths nonsense.
