The next Ford Fiesta
Forget all the “concept car” talk: this is the next Ford Fiesta with a few frills. And it looks a real corker.
Finally, Ford is producing cars based on its own design language and I applaud Martin Smith. For too long, it has been following others, most recently trying to be Volkswagen. The second-generation Ford Fiesta (from 1989) was unashamedly a Fordized Peugeot 205—Köln even admitted it. This is as well directed as the 1971 Taunus and Cortina—aggressive, futuristic, moving. It even integrates design features from fashion and cellphones.
The Ford Verve Concept will be at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main—the Frankfurt show to the rest of us.
