It was sort of fun
When you have a very disparate group of people in the audience, it’s hard for the humour to work universally. The “Uncle Tom” jokes did better (Chinese hip-hop is called chip-chop), which is a bit of a shame. Still, the finishing jokes were a lot of fun, especially my reference to the late Billy T. James. The fashion and dance, and Katie Dai, who sang a Bic Runga song, exceeded my expectations. It was quite professional.
Ran ahead of schedule, which was lucky as clouds gathered, and a big-up to Linda Lim and Steph Tims whose organization of the event was amazing. Glad to see a lot of my family there, too.
