Imagine

I guess with The Beatles' longstanding battle with Apple that he's not promoting iBooks ... besides I'm sure John sang about giving PCs a chance? (Ahem. Sorry.)

Maybe Yoko heard just that when she approved the ad, due to a misunderstanding!

Hi Mr. Yan,

Imagine, yea I imagine if John Lennon was here today that he would not be fond of this spot. Its not the message, but the creative execution that is simply creepy.

Imagine is a wonderful song that inspires a movment of humanty; I think the agency that did this [pro bono] effort missed the chance to inspire critical mass.

Hi Bill: I agree. Also Lennon was against commercial exploitation. While OLPC isn’t commercial per se, I don’t think he would have approved of this ad either. However, his widow believes it was all right, so who knows?
[this is good]

The Imagine spot is gaining attention in the news, I've seen it on several news shows. But, the adv speaks to culture, but not [with] culture; it does not engage.

OLPC, is marketing their product, it does not seem to have a branding focus; do you think that is true?

Best,
b.

I think you hit it on the head: the Lennon impersonator does not engage at all, but rather preaches. OLPC does not have a strong enough branding focus, in my view.
