I did not enter my article on to Agora Vox
Agora Vox took a blog entry of mine and turned it into an article on its site. Apparently, I had given it permission to reuse my blog entries. What I did not expect was the sheer lack of professionalism in republishing. The formatting is shot to hell, and there are just breaches of journalistic rules that I do not find remotely funny. One does not republish blog entries as articles without re-editing. I also would never write an “article” where I am quoted as the source.
Wanting to be nice, I wanted to edit it for them, taking out my quotations, but once it’s published at Agora, the only editing one can do is to request an article’s removal. I have opted for that than have my name associated with this, writing, since these guys are French: ‘S'il n'y a pas un moyen [pour changer l’article], pourriez-vous rayer l'article?’ I’ve also found the setting where I apparently gave them permission to reuse my blog, and switched it to ‘Refuse’.
I don’t think these citizen newspapers will catch on quickly. The awareness of good journalism is not there. Mind you, one might argue against the mainstream media for the same reason.
