How to restore faith in American politics

Well said Jack. I, myself have asked people why they are voting for who they are voting for and most of the responses I get are economic reasons which range from 'money for schools, lower gas prices, higher paying wages, etc. So basically I tell them they are voting with their pocket books instead of reasons they should be considering.

It is true, the fault lies at our (we the people) feet because we are the ones who put these self-serving, blasphemous folks in our statesman's offices. So what does that say about we the people? And these college kids that are the new Youth Vote, we should also take responsibility as parents for their quickness to rally for those who misguide them. It looks as though, not many are willing to do research to find out who these people are.

I do still have hope, I wonder how much of what we hear is true, is it a small amount of folks that really are loving the scoundrels, but we hear them because they are constantly obnoxiously loud. I suppose we'll find out after our next election. I hear it's only 20% of American's or even lower amount that are pushing for socialism, and in that 20% also comes with the illegal aliens here that push their agenda's. My question is why are they voting? They have no right to vote, nor should they be here. Their first action in our country was to break our laws...

Excellent points, A. I.—as Churchill said, democracy is the worst system, excepting all others. And it’s ironical: here we are, in an age where we can find out so much information, yet the majority of us still make the same mistakes when a charismatic politician appears. People like those of us on Vox do seem to be a minority, prepared to research and debate the real issues.

With me I don't think that this is possible. I have worked on too many campaigns and known too many politicians. The political class feeds on man's lowest characteristics while at the same time power and money is taken from individuals and transferred to the State. This is Mussolini’s dream, not mine. Jesse Unruh was a former California State Treasurer, a Democrat and the quintessential politician and an example on what to expect in the future.
