Gorgeous loves these ads

Those are making me laugh out loud!

I don't mind commercials like these if they are clever, and these truly are. When they put the high heel sandals out in the lot for the door guard to see, I almost killed myself laughing. And "Daveina" in the shower!

I can't stand the ones that Hardee's makes or the old Coors beer commercials. It was all about t&a, no humor, but I understand they are targeting guys, and I'm sure a lot of guys like them. But they're stupid.

These are great.

Brucetta and Davina are brilliant! You can tell the second one is a sequel as it parodies the first; both are incredibly well cast and cheeky.
We do have the T&A-only ads, but I would guess there are fewer here, given that the Prime Minister, Speaker and (I believe) Chief Justice are all women …
Yeah, these are great. And Tui is my (American) husband's favourite NZ beer. So there's that.
Is it widely available there, Gaspode?
Not at all. In New York I've only found Steinlager at bars, and sometimes when in California I've found Speights. Nah, his Tui love is from the times we've been back to NZ.
Supposedly I have heard tell of Mac's on the left coast as well.
It would be nice if Eight Mile Creek would invest in some more kiwi beers
[this is good]
I have to say this is a very funny ad campaign.
So which town did you originally hail from. Gaspode? And will you be coming back anytime soon?
I have found Steinlager on both coasts but not Speight’s yet, though I did find Cloudy Bay in California.
Thanks for your feedback, Rastven and Viralcraig!
I have the funny feeling I have seen Mac’s there but can’t swear to it.
I'm from Dunedin, orginally. And I'm planning on moving back to NZ (don't know where yet) in the middle of '08, fingers crossed.

Cloudy Bay, and plenty of other wines (particularly Marlborough ones, although our local wine shop has just started getting in lots of Central Otago pinot noirs) are readily available here. Beer is a completely different story. And rastven, where did you find Macs? And why didn't you bring me some?
I’m heading down to Dunedin next week. Should be fun! New York is always a ’mare when I go there. I have some really close friends there, but they are 80 per cent expats. Have a few natives as friends. I think it will be a welcome breath of fresh air when you return here and the US dollar should still stack up reasonably well to ours.
Ah, I love living in New York. As long as you avoid any touristy areas, it's all good. Say hi to Dunedin for me! /homesick

I will!
I spent a summer down in Staten Island with some good friends, but even there you could feel the “pressure” of Manhattan waft down. Funny, I don’t feel it in Paris, Berlin or even Bangkok, but I feel it in London and NYC. Or maybe it was a 9-11 premonition given that it was a few weeks before …

I said I had heard tell of Mac's not that I had actually seen it. Do you think there would be any left on the shelves if I had :-)
I think it's an urban myth but luckily both the liquor store I frequent in NJ and the one by Ms Rastven on Long Island stock a wide selection of kiwi plonk and especially large amount of Babich Winemakers Reserve Merlot.

We have to get Zane-o to load up on beer when he comes back
I am acquainted with one of the blokes who handle some of distribution for Kiwi plonk. Think they are based in DC, so I guess the east coast should be better stocked than the west. Sometimes we can find better plonk there than here!
There are a lot of big distributors in the NY region as well. East Coast is definitely classer than the west.
I found nicely aged Kumeu River Chardonnay at a store once. They had no idea what they had and I got it for a song.
I heard on the news that some NZ plonk is selling for more than French stuff now in the UK. Then again, a bloody chocolate bar imported from NZ is £2.
