Fun facts for February 2009
I have been inspired here by David Letterman’s Fun Facts, but I feel they are a little too American. In the interests of global relations in the Obama era, I thought I needed to add some international facts in addition to several from the US.
This started with one at work and it grew progressively less funny from there.
- Col Sanders’ rank in the US Army was really Private.
- Before he was an opera singer, Paul Potts sold cellphones.
- Before he was an actor, John Simm invented the Simm card for cellphones.
- The Brazilian flag features a giant football.
- Neither Fred Flintstone nor Barney Rubble wore pants.
- Temuera Morrison has never visited Guatemala.
- In the 1970s, the first cellphones really were made out of brick.
- Despite his name, Dennis Waterman cannot swim.
- Grimace, the McDonaldland character, represents the colour of a human liver after too much fast food.
- Before he was white, and before he was black, Michael Jackson spent his earliest years as an oriental.
