Caleigh makes her prime-time début on Shortland Street

Comments

I find I suffer too much cultural cringe to watch Shortland Street. I love some medical drama, and I am far more invested in Home and Away than I care to admit, but Shortland Street has just never sucked me in.
Mum put me off medical soaps for life (she was a nurse and always thought they were full of crap, though at one point she did watch Dr Kildare). Homin Dway has those pretty white Aussie kids, which I imagine must be part of the appeal—I will admit to a perve of Mrs Borat (Isla Fisher).
I watched some of The Young Doctors, and that was enough for me. I didn’t need another Grundy medical soap on prime-time in this lifetime. There’s a reason TYD never won a Logie in all its years.
