Bush: Mandela is dead because of Saddam Hussein

Comments

Gee I missed this Jack, I'm glad you are here to keep me up to date. The Mandelas are a little too Red for me. I would most likely have voted for Mangosuthu Buthelezi (IPF) were I a citizen of South Africa.

I have to agree on RSA and the former President’s overall economic and political stance. And the above example is probably a very good one on media bias, because other than the South African report which I linked, I could find none that expressed a potential alternative explanation or placed the President’s comments into their full context.

The western developed world doesn't have enough money and resources to fix Africa. You know what "they" say about owning a boat: A boat is a hole in the ocean in which you deposit money. Sad.
On Africa, I agree with Simon Anholt’s methods. His belief, too, is that IMF loans and the like follow the boat analogy. The best way is to teach them to use first-world marketing techniques for exports, notably branding. Some examples from “poorer” nations include Infosys (Bangalore) or Dilmah Tea (Sri Lanka). There is little reason they cannot be templates for many African countries, allowing them to earn first-world levels of money and improve their economies, though in the case of some nations like DR Congo it’s going to take a concerted effort from the state first to inspire its entrepreneurs. Right now, I am sure that if one declared, ‘I want to export,’ the road would not be easy.
I received some steel parts for one of my jobs today, namely 1 1/4 inch diameter schedule 40 pipe. They were stamped "Vietnam"- this proves that Adam Smith was right all along and any society which wants to become "first world" needs to honor contracts and create a stock exchange, create value and trade with the entire world.
