Blogger-to-WordPress geeks: I want to hear from you

Comments

I had Wordpress and loved it. The only reason I am not on it is because it was to much of a temptation to tweak and tweak and tweak.

it was almost comparable to cosmetic surgery addiction :).

I don't know about the free service Wordpress but I do know that if you find a site that hosts wordpress blogs, they will allow you to mess with custom html and css stuff. Here is the service I used at one point. Lisa was VERY helpful.

... and Jack, just cough it up... pay for a service that will make you happy.
WordPress has a Blogger importer.
You may want to check out the information here:

Thank you, Red Pen. Will check it out in a sec. Looks more promising than Blogger, to be sure. Randy, thank you, too. I am happy to hear about customization. I probably won’t tweak too much, but I have to say I won’t pay for a blogging platform. It sounds like I will have to install software of some kind, though, from what you say, which does concern me: that could be a deal-breaker as I am pretty technophobic when it comes to that.
Stick with the free WordPress service and you won't need to install a thing. You can do quite a bit of customizing on the free service, and if you want more control, additional options are available for roughly $15 per year. Trust me, you probably won't need to spend the money to get the look and functionality you want. Beats Blogger hands down.
Free sounds good to me, and someone on my other blog was incredibly kind and offered to help me install. Says a lot about this Web 2·0 world: a lot of quality people out there.
Personally, i absolutely love VOX. I immigrated from blogspot not too long ago after they moved from 'beta' to 'bollocks'. I had a host of issues with blogspot and finally got tired of it. The only issue i have with VOX is their attempt to nationalise bloggers by allowing comments from vox users exclusively - i call it the Republic of Voxslavia. This inhibits the free flow and exchange of ideas - not unlike that which takes place on the global national stage. This is further exacerbated by Voxslavians not being able to place links to other non-Voxslavian sites at the sidebar. Tch!

Other than that, i don't see why i have to pay for a blogging platform which is going to look just about as neat and well-ordered as vox - i suppose having ads on the site is a small price to pay. I also love the way Vox has integrated with sites such as youtube et al to make linking easier.
