I can't stand him. I feel much the same about Matthew Ridge, and I hate the idea that they're some kind of role models for young men. The whole "loveable larrikin" irritates me in general. What happened to celebrating people for their achievements rather than their notoriety?
I have a lot of strange friends: a nympho, people who have smoked marijuana, sado-masochists, etc. However, they do this privately, and they are not well known. They are not recognizable figures going to visit drug pedlars.
I do not feel I can endorse image like Mr Ellis’s. Yes, his show may be funny, but he is no role model. I am an adult, so it is a laugh. However, impressionable children or teenagers need not watch his shows, otherwise they will think his behaviour is acceptable in society.
Thank you for your feedback, Bridget. If the topic remains (there is an indication it won’t), then I will definitely stress your final point.
